The law for protecting designs can often seem to be unwieldy to the uninitiated with recent amendments to UK law and new European design protection regimes being introduced.

Notwithstanding the overlap with copyright law, designs in the United Kingdom can be protected automatically by both unregistered UK Design Rights and unregistered European Community Design Rights. In addition to this there are also two registered design regimes in operation with the availability of both UK and European Community Registered Designs.

We have also successfully obtained interim injunctions for our clients to prevent the sale of designs which infringe their rights.
